Founded by clinicians
We exist because
preventable infections still kill.
Hospital infection prevention technology, powered by computer vision.
Hospital-acquired infections, in ICUs and operating rooms, cause tens of thousands of preventable deaths every year. Not because clinicians don't care. Because the observation burden is impossible. One nurse. Twelve patients. A 3 AM shift change. A skipped step no one sees.

Why we built Gray Scrubs
Manual audits catch less than half of protocol deviations during central line procedures. In the operating room, sterility breaches go unrecorded unless someone happens to be watching. Not because anyone is negligent — because no human team can observe every procedure, every shift, around the clock.
Our CEO is a physician who watched this gap from inside the ICU. Our CTO spent five years building computer vision systems that could understand complex real-world procedures. When they met, the question wasn't "can we build this?" — it was "why hasn't anyone done this yet?"
Gray Scrubs puts a second set of eyes in the ICU and the operating room — one that never blinks, never tires, and never looks away. Our system monitors hospital procedures in real time, documenting protocol deviations so clinical teams can act on them.
We process everything on-premise. No patient data leaves the hospital. No video is stored. The AI sees hands and instruments, not faces. We built security and privacy into the architecture from day one because we're building for the most regulated environment in the world — and because it's the right thing to do.
The team
A physician, a machine learning scientist, a security engineer, and an ML systems builder.
Daneyal Rafique, MD
CEO / Co-founder
Physician by training who saw firsthand how protocol violations go undetected in busy ICUs. Bridges the gap between clinical reality and engineering, ensuring every feature serves a real clinical workflow.
Irtaza Khalid, PhD
CTO / Co-founder
PhD in machine learning with 5+ years of research in computer vision. Architects the on-edge AI pipelines that process video in real time without storing patient data.
Eury Raza
CISO / Co-founder
Full-stack security engineer designing HIPAA-compliant infrastructure from day one. 4+ years building secure, real-time systems for regulated environments.
